About US

The people behind the designs.

Our story

Allan Nutt Architect was established by Allan Nutt, AIA in 1976 and the firm has spent the last four decades delivering client-focused projects throughout the Austin region. A graduate of the University of Texas School of Architecture, Allan has been a mainstay in the region long before the expansion and growth of the city. Still eager to continue with his design career, Allan partnered with Market Square Architects, PLLC in 2018. The combined firm brings together a common mentality of project delivery with an expanded capacity to deliver projects of any scale. The firm emphasizes providing great value and impeccable attention to design based on the simple premise of listening to the needs or our clients and charting a course of delivery that consistently keeps those goals in mind. With offices in Austin, Texas, and Portsmouth, NH (just north of Boston) we leverage available technology to integrate the two offices into one functioning unit.  With licenses in 24 states and active projects in 10 states, we can blend a hands-on local approach with a national reach. No matter where you are, or how big your project may be, we can provide amazing talent and boutique service as well as fair and reasonable fees to help you achieve your project goals.

Our Approach

Listen – Our approach starts with the simple premise of listening. We want to understand your goals and vision for the project so the design solution can be focused on meeting those goals and the outcome is a successful one. It is essential to first build relationships before you can design and construct a building. The first step is defining a clear understanding of the services to be provided.

Design – Design is an integral component of any architecture firm. We focus on finding creative design solutions that meet the needs and the budget. We assist our clients in navigating the decision-making process so that decisions can be based on aesthetics, value and life cycle maintenance costs.

Deliver – Our blend of creative design and technical abilities sets us apart. Our wealth of experience navigating approvals, permitting, the construction process and representing the interests of our clients helps to ensure that a project is completed with the same focus and energy as when it begins.

Our Founders

Allan Nutt Architect was founded by an architect who was looking to bring quality design services to the then sleepy College Town/ Capital City of Austin. Long before it was a tech-forward city, Allan and his team spent years designing projects that are now where many Austinites eat, sleep, work and shop. The combination of Allan Nutt Architect and Market Square Architects PLLC will allow this effort to continue with the same client-focused delivery for many decades to come.
